Galileo Galilei's Early Years.
Galileo was born in Pisa, Italy on February,15,1564. He was one of six children of Vincenzo Galilei a famous Italian musician and Giuila Ammannati. At age 10 Galileo and his family moved to Florence, Italy. Galileo started at Camaldolese monastery in Vallombrosa. At 19 he entered university of Pisa to gain a profession in medicine. Later discovering he has a interest in mathematics and physics. 2 years later he was going to become a professor at the university when financial problems made him leave the university before he graduated. |
Galileo Galilei's Teaching Years.
As Galileo study mathematics he started teaching to support him financially. As he studied objects in motion he wrote his first book : The Little Balance. At 25 Galileo was hired as a professor where he experimented on falling objects of different masses. This is when he published his manuscript : Du Motu (On Motion). At this time Galileo's contract with the university was NOT renewed due to the fact that he tries to contradict Aristotle. Galileo was then shortly after hired to teach at the university of Padua. When Galileo was 27 his father passed away. Leaving him to look after his brother Michelangelo. |
Galileo Galilei's Scientific Years
Galileo kept on contradicting the church and Aristotle. Aristotle believed that everything revolved around the earth but, Galileo believed that everything revolved around the sun. The church put Galileo on trial. He was found guilty and put on house arrest for life. Yet he still wrote books. In total Galileo wrote 23 books |
Galileo Galilei's Dying Years
When Galileo was 78 he was suffering from irregular heart beat. He also had feverish phases causing heart Palpitations. Which means he had a irregular heart. he died from the fevers and heart Palpitations on January 88 1642.
